HUSL IP Related Courses - Recommended Sequences

 

These recommendations reflect the best judgment of the IIPSJ directors.  Students are cautioned to consult with their faculty advisors and with the IIPSJ directors for tailoring a law school program to the student's particular interests. Furthermore, the timing of the offering of particular courses will vary from year to year.

The most standard course sequence would be this:

2L Fall -- Introduction to IP
or Trademarks

2L Spring -- Copyright
Patents

3L Fall -- Patent Enforcement
Entertainment Law

3L Spring -- Cyberspace Law or
Patent Policy Seminar or
Entertainment Law Seminar

For those with a technical degree who are strongly interested in patent law, the recommended course sequence would be along these lines:

2L Fall -- Intro to IP

2L Spring -- Patents

3L Fall -- Patent Enforcement

3L Spring -- Patent Policy Seminar
Cyberspace Law

For those interested primarily in copyright, the recommended course sequence would be along these lines:

2L Fall -- Introduction to IP

Trademark

3L Fall -- Entertainment Law
