IIPSJ Sponsored Internships & Clerkships

To advance the cause of diversity within the intellectual property bar, the IIPSJ, Inc., Program at HUSL assists the HUSL Faculty and the HUSL Placement Office in working with various law firms, public agencies, and corporations to create student internship and professional practice opportunities in the field of intellectual property law. Special attention is given to diversification efforts within the elite corporate law firms, corporate in-house counsel, and similar practice environments in which minorities have historically been underrepresented. In addition to providing specific internship positions, sponsoring law firms and corporations frequently underwrite summer stipends for students working in IP internships sponsored by public interest and similar organizations. One innovation developed by IIPSJ is its 1L IP Summer Internship Program, which provides opportunities for students who have just completed their first year in law school in order to expose these students to the option of intellectual property practice and to enhance their ability to compete for second year summer associate positions, internships, and similar placement opportunities.
